WHAT IS FUTSAL?
Futsal is essentially 5v5 soccer on a basketball court!
Futsal, acknowledged by FIFA as the official indoor soccer game, is a variation of soccer played primarily indoors on a hard court surface slightly larger than a basketball court. The game features two teams, each comprising five players, including a goalkeeper. Notably, futsal employs a smaller, heavier, low-bounce ball.
Distinguishing itself from traditional indoor soccer, futsal is played with touchlines as boundaries, omitting walls or boards. The absence of these barriers contributes to a faster pace, allowing for more ball touches and often resulting in higher scores compared to regular soccer.
Futsal boasts global popularity, with participation extending to over 100 countries and involving around 12 million players. The dynamic nature of the game, combined with its unique features, sets futsal apart as an exciting and widely embraced variant of soccer.
Futsal has played a crucial role in the development of some of the world's finest players, such as Andres Iniesta, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., and Ronaldinho, all of whom express gratitude to the sport for shaping them into the accomplished players they are today.
